With a number of Aston Villa fans losing their proverbial marbles following John McGinn’s sublime volley at the weekend in the defeat to Sheffield Wednesday, we weren’t the only ones admiring his strike.
Fans of his former club Hibernian continue to keep a close eye on the 23-year-old Scottish international and it’s fair to say there’s a certain amount of ‘told you so’ going on as you look around social media – we even had one on our Twitter feed.
Told you he was class ???? @VillaViews_ @VitalVilla

It’s not just Hibs fans though, with McGinn heavily linked with a possible move to Celtic, a section of their fan base are disappointed that he’s not turning out in their colours. That’s no great surprise and it’s not an unknown as I’ve covered McGinn from their perspective previously and there was a mix of thoughts on show.

Well worth the cash celtic refused to pay. Brown needs to learn to hit a shot when in space 20-25yards out instead of 2 – 3 yard passes

Yip we wouldn't pay 750k more for ………

@jtaylor0762 I will never tire of watching this. Better than Zidane! (and I was at Hampden when Zidane scored his goal!!) #superjohnmcginn

Given his goal at the weekend it definitely left the above fans wondering ‘what if’ – especially from the financial perspective which now sadly rules the game.
