Big Brad Joins Spurs

Solid American Keeper Brad Friedel has opted to join Tottenham Hotspur following the expiry of his deal at Villa Park.

He is widely expected to replace Heurelho Gomes, who is tipped to join former club PSV Eindhoven this summer, as number one.

Friedel played 114 Premiership matches for us following his arrival from Blackburn Rovers in 2008.

Arguably the best goalkeeper we have had during the ‘Premiership Years’, his first two seasons in particular were filled with impressive performances and his world class shot-stopping continued into what turned out to be his final year with the club though some believe other areas of his game had started to diminish, such as coming out off his line.

Brad was always a model professional and I think all the Villa fans will want to wish him the best of luck down at White Hart Lane (except when we play the Spuds of course).
