John Carew is looking to European football to help develop our young stars. The Hulk has played in the Champions League and says it is a crucial experience.

He told the official site, as Villa look to take poll position in the race for the Uefa in our game v Everton this afternoon:

‘It is important for development of young players to play in Europe, absolutely right, in terms of the experience and everything which can be gained from playing against top players from other countries. I was lucky in that I played in the Champions League when I was only 19 and was part of a final only a year later and you learn so much from things like that. I have played in Europe for almost all of my career and it is just an amazing feeling. I want these young lads here at Aston Villa to experience that.’

He says players like Gabby Agbonlahor and Ashley Young have ‘exciting talents’ and Europe would take those skills ‘to the next level’.

He is also looking to add to his goal tally before the season is out: ‘I’ve got 12 goals and I think the best I’ve managed in a season is 15 or 16. I will try and get my best tally. It is going well but the most important thing is that we win and who scores is not important. If I can have an assist, that gives me the same pleasure as scoring myself. I just want to see us winning.’

JC has also spoken of the Everton game admitting it will be tough but they are going to Goodison with confidence in their ability to bring back the three points.
