John Carew has promised there are more goals to come from him after making a scoring return from injury.

Big John told the official site,

‘This was my first goal after the injury and hopefully this will give me even more of a confidence boost for the next matches. I had the chance to take it down inside the area and the defender couldn’t tackle me because it would have been a penalty. So I just had a shot at goal and it went in. It was difficult to be out injured for six or seven weeks like that, but I am slowly starting to get fit again and it’s always good to get goals.’

Adding on the match v Boro, ‘It was a difficult game for us. The match was maybe not the most entertaining to watch, especially in the first-half. But even then we played some good football and got the lead. To score three goals in the end is a very strong victory away from home for us and gives us a very strong boost.’

Gabby Agbonlahor also said of his fellow striker: ‘I think he’s the best in the world at doing that sort of thing. On his day, when he’s got confidence, he’s the best at holding the ball up and turning like that. He did that a lot on Saturday and had one of his better games. He’s just come back from injury and that goal will really lift his confidence. I think you can see we’re playing with loads of confidence and we looked like a really good team on Saturday. That’s credit to the manager, the players and the rest of the staff and hopefully we can continue that.’

Just imagine if JC starts banging them in regularly for us now. That really could push us towards Europe this season, especially when you consider there is money once again to spend in the January transfer window.
