Big Mac Post Bolton Match Reaction

Not sure I can muster the energy for a match report right now, been doing my bit by shouting my head off all afternoon but sadly, the game just fizzed out!

Anyway, Kevin MacDonald has told the official site that he thought Villa started well enough but didn’t capitalise on that and admits we gave the ball away far far too cheaply, something that won’t have gone unnoticed by the watching manager (from tomorrow official…!) Gerrard Houllier I’m sure.

‘They got the equaliser and in the second half they had good chances which were stopped by either good saves or good blocks. But we had some breakaways where we have been a bit untidy.’

He also says that the gesture by Ashley Young running to him after scoring was ‘nice’ adding, ‘I just think Ashley loves scoring goals and playing football. I hope he goes on to become a top player. He’s part of the way there now. I’d like to think he can continue on and become an England regular – whether it’s wide or playing centrally. I’m not sure if it was for me or the whole staff that have put the work in over a period of time. That’s what the appreciation was for. It was for people like Tony and Rafa too. That was nice – a nice gesture – but we didn’t win the game. That would have been the best gesture.’

On Richard Dunne, Big Mac explained he has a re-occurring knee problem.
