Big Rise In Season Ticket Sales For Lambert

Looks like season ticket sales are up already with the arrival of Paul Lambert.

The new Villa boss was surprised and humbled that 200 odd fans turned up to Villa Park yesterday to welcome him (nice tip off from Vital for the timing of that!)

‘The fans outside were really nice, which was humbling,’ he said. ‘I will do everything I can to make this club successful. The size of the club indicates you have to get the fans going and that’s what I will try to do. The team and myself will certainly need them. You need the fans right behind you, and we have to give them something as well. At the moment there seems to be a really good feeling around the club and I’ll do everything I can to get the crowd going.”

Adding, ‘The Holte End will be vital to us. That’s the traditional end where you get the place rocking – and the rest of the stadium will bounce off that. If that happens and we get the team performing then hopefully we will be fine.’

He was at pains yesterday throughout his press talk to say how important the fans are to the Villa and to hopefully a new happier chapter.

CEO Paul Faulkner said that 2000 season tickets were sold within 24 hours of the announcement of Lambert, putting the sales to around 21,000 sold already.

Lambert wants to give the fans a winning team, ‘If you can do it with style then great, but if you can`t and you win, I`m pretty sure people will still be happy.`
