Vital Villa asked what song you’d like to see the team run out to on match days.

My favourite – Hells Bells by AC/DC polled a massive 2% 🙁

41% liked the idea of trying to get Ozzy Osbourne with Black Sabbath to do a rendition of Ghostriders in the Sky but singing Holteenders in the Sky.

Second was Jeff Beck with Hi Ho Silver Lining on 38%

Guns and Roses Welcome to the Jungle got 15%

Nirvana polled 3% for Smells Like Teen Spirit

And a Villa anthem got just 1%

  • Got to be Jeff Becks Hi Ho Silver Lining, adapted of course for our purposes. That’ll get the 30,000 who can bother to attend rocking and rolling, jumping and jiving. MON is right, more noise is needed inside Villa Park.

  • agree with Glensider. Hi Ho adapted for our purposes is the way forward. The words that are currently used are fine but need to be displayed on the big screens unti we all know it off by heart. However it still needs be re recorded in a much more agressive style. For those that do not know or who can not hear over the crap PA system the words are; We’re everywhere that you are Villa. Thats where we’re at. With the Holte End behind the Villa, we’ll win every match. Up and down the country, we’ll sing this song. When we get behind the Villa, we can’t go wrong. Singing HI HO ASTON VILLA. Everywhere you go we’ll be there. Don’t care about the weather. We will sing this song. The Villa’s glorious. So to the few of us who are going tomorrow, sing your hearts out for the lads.

  • Here is the alternative version; The b-lose are going nowhere baby. Thats where there at. Sullivan is a weknar. Steve Bruce is a tawt. Karen Brady is a slapper, the Gold Brothers are ctnus. We all follow the Villa, we’re out in front . Singing HI HO ASTON VILLA. Everywhere we go there’s aggro. I want to see your toe caps shining. We will sing our song. The Villas glorious.

  • So thats it then Hi Ho sung by Ozzy and Co, anyone out there got a way to get in touch? knew a couple of people involved with Sabbath from a time I spent working at Rich ****** in selly Oak just before Cosy died, can possibly get a message to Ozzy through Tony Iomi, but like I say long time ago and a lot of burnt bridges but I’ll have a bash at that unless there is one of you in a better position. considering that I am in N Wales. UTV

  • Correct me if I’m wrong steff_the_villan, but as far as I’m aware Ozzy is not the big Villa fan in the band. I was always under the impression, going way back when to the bands very early days, that Ozzy wasn’t particularly in to football. Not that it matters, because his Aston connections alone would stand us in good stead, and I think its Geezer who is the absolute huge Villa fanatic. Is all well though currently with the band? I read that Sabbath are touring minus Ozzy. Only trying to pour cold water on the Ozzy/Sabbath song cause I’m 100% on the side of Jeff Beck.

  • Is it just me who like the current song? I know some people find the countdown cheesy but i like and its a good introduction for us and the team.

But if we must change than cant we play both songs? play HI HO first to get the crowd going, than the countdown and than play a new verison of ghost rider in the sky.

  • For the record, Fear, I’d love to hear a bit of ‘DC at Villa Park. Hell’s Bells would be great for night matches. I think For Those About To Rock (We Salute You) would be a better choice, though.

  • Just love the bells tolling in hells bells, although for those about to rock is great as well! How about big balls…. maybe not!?! lol

The Sabbath idea is a total long shot, not sure who suggested it, was I the clever one? Doubt it. Ozzy did say he was a Villa fan though.

Unrelated really and nothing to do with footie, but I must admit, I did like the Dio Sabbath as well, although it was a totally different band imho. Only one I didn’t like was when Gillan (one of my heroes, just love his solo and deep purple stuff) took over, it just was not right!

  • The mention of Jeff Beck just disgusts me, anyone from the midlands will know the history to that song, it?s a dingles anthem, there?s a group in the holte now that shouts their disgust everytime it is played and I?m with them, hi ho Wolverhampton? At Villa Park, I wouldn?t set foot inside till it was gone, what next Blue Moon?

We need some stirring mega mix, using the screens to mix some classic Villa moments to get everyone going and insights a strong reaction
