Blades Battle On & Off The Pitch

Battle on the pitch and battle off it according to Villa manager Martin O’Neill who admitted ‘a few words were exchanged’ by the players in the tunnel after the 2-2 draw between Villa and Sheffield United.

What sparked the anger? Juan Pablo Angel ‘accidently’ elbowed the Blades captain Chris Morgan in the mush.

If the ref Mark Halsey, who had a decent game in fairness, had seen it, it would have been a red card and no mistake!

At the end of the game there was an exchange between Morgan and Angel, when Martin O’Neill was informed he said, in true Little Britain style: ‘So that is what that kerfuffle was about.’

He explained: ‘There were a few words exchanged in the tunnel, but it was not too dissimilar to what happens in most tunnels at the end of a game. There were a few people separating things, although there was nothing thrown as far as I could see. It shouldn’t spoil what was a pretty exciting game, and I think we more than played our part.’

Neil Warnock had a whinge anyway: ‘I thought it was disappointing that the official didn’t see it, but Morgs has said he did. We will have to see, but I don’t think there was any need for it.’ Although he said he wasn’t aware of any after match incident.

The unpredictable Warnock was quoted moaning about Watford using a towel to dry the ball before throw ins last week, so what did he do this week? Yup, give his players towels to dry the ball. He added that Morgan sprinted off the pitch so he didn’t get himself into trouble but coach Stuart McCall was clearly seen on camera legging in after him to make sure nothing untoward happened.
