From the little I saw and read, John McGinn wasn’t the only man to have a game to forget as Scotland faced Belgium this September international break.
Alex McLeish’s side lost the match 4-0 in pretty convincing fashion and it was a strange friendly to arrange ahead of UEFA Nations League money spinner…sorry, their tie against Albania last night.
McGinn again took his place in the starting XI and from what I can tell at the moment, he had a damn good game showing exactly what we’ve seen of him so far since his move to us in August as he’s already established himself a key man for Villa – the only question is, can he maintain it?
You wouldn’t get that impression from looking at social media as it seems Celtic have their own section within the fanbase who don’t mind illogically throwing their toys out of the pram over the tiniest of things – the thing, in this case, being his temerity to move to us and not them.
He’s getting worse. Thank god we never signed him

Football is about opinions and opinions aren’t always reflected appropriately through the haze of beer goggles and pre-formed opinions that people are determined not to change, but the above guff took me by surprise.
I’m hoping the crying smilies are sarcastic and there were in fairness plenty of comments rubbishing the criticisms, which I liked as I favour Celtic in Scotland going back to the days of Packie Bonner, but that has given me a giggle tonight.
I’m looking forward to highlights when I can find them as Whoscored through their dispassionate rating system, actually had him tagged as their star player with a rating of 7.92.
Two shots with one on target, a key pass, pass accuracy of 82.8% from 87 touches and he even threw in two dribbles. Defensively he added four tackles, two interceptions and broke play up with two fouls.
