Jordan Bowery has said that in his harboured dreams of playing in the Premier League, he always hoped it would be Villa.

Tipped as one for the future, it did take Bowery a while to show us what he could do but his performance against Stoke recently certainly made people sit and up and pay attention to him. Held the line well, battled, some silky ball control and very – in my humble – unlucky to end the match not having found the net himself.

Not a bad return after being at the club since the start of the season, and he’s at least shown promise that next season we may well see a lot more from him.

But anyway, enough of my rambling, back to his rambling.

‘I would love to be here as long as possible. I would happily stay for the rest of my career. This is a massive club with great history and I’ve always said that if I could play for a Premier League club it would be Aston Villa. It’s not far from where I live, and what a club it is, with all that tradition. I couldn’t ask for a better club to be at.’

Well that is always one way to ingratiate yourself with the fans, but maybe it’s my tinted spectacles but I agree with every word!

Bowery says that when the interest from Villa in him was announced, the Chesterfield manager said he would be in our U21 squad and that’s what he was signed to play in, so to come in, and be training with the first team from day one was a huge boost for him, and clearly if Stoke is anything to go by, he’s making the step up well and adjusted just as well as you could hope for given the level he came from.

Not the finished product though, and one great performance against Stoke does not make a Premiership striker, but the potential is there, and the attitude seems more than willing, so hopefully it’s a case of once he gets that first goal he will go on a roll for us and be a good alternative option up front.

Plenty of other little gems in the interview as well so give the link a click. I didn’t realise his dad was signed by Brian Clough!
