With almost endless transfer speculation at this time of year, this morning saw the release of Aston Villa’s fixture list for the coming 2019/20 campaign as we return to the Premier League after a three year absence following success at Wembley in the Championship Play-Off Final.

Fixture day normally sparks a small turn in the speculation as it means preparations for the coming year are now back underway even if the players aren’t quite back yet, so some rumours start to take on a real more prospect of happening, and of course, we’ll slowly start to see deals being finalised.

Plenty of fans had their thoughts on what would make our opening ideal fixture as we return to the top flight and the Vital Villa Forum Thread had plenty of disagreement, as well as agreement on that front, but as we now know the first meaningful ball gets kicked at Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium on August 10 and typically we start in front of the Sky cameras with a 5.30pm kickoff.

It’s a pretty mixed run really as the month’s tick by, a couple of presumed more difficult spells but no horror run for me.

Boxing Day finally at Villa Park as well makes a nice change as it feels like years since we were last on home soil. And the season ends against the Bubble Blowers and their delightful owners…wouldn’t it be funny if…

So, that’s the fixture list…until games inevitably get moved, so don’t make too many plans in advance eh.
