Blackburn Rovers Chairman John Williams admits their #1 goalkeeper didn’t grow on a tree, as Brad Friedel shocks the club by requesting a transfer.

News coming from the Lancashire Telegraph suggests that despite Rovers` insistence that the former USA International is going nowhere, that the player himself now wishes to move onto pastures new, after a 7 seasons at Ewood Park.

Blackburn`s chairman admits that he has received two formal bids from clubs looking to acquire the services of a player who has undoubtedly been one of the greatest goalkeepers in the league, following his somewhat disastrous spell at Liverpool.

“We`ve had two bids for Brad, despite my insistence to the clubs concerned we didn`t want them. They`ve been rejected.” John Williams told the LT.
“When Brad told us he wanted to leave, it was a bolt out of the blue – he had only signed his latest contract back in February, and a replacement keeper has not even been on our radar.”

It is believed that Manchester City may well be the other club, with a two-way fight brewing between Friedel`s previous manager Mark Hughes, and the American-Connection we have steadily building at Villa Park, soon to be added to with rising American GK star Brad Guzan subject to Home Office approval.

Is Friedel set to join Guzan in becoming “AVFC Team Brad GK?” Only time will tell.

After all to quote Mr Williams: “Brad Friedel`s don`t grow on trees.”
