Robert Snodgrass has been excellent since signing from West Ham on a season-long loan.
The winger has offered the team an added dimension in attack, having scored eight goals and provided 13 assists this season.
Many fans on Twitter believe the 30-year-old has been one of the best temporary signings the club have ever made. Although some went for James Milner and Kyle Walker:
I don't think I've ever known an #AVFC loan player looking more at home at Aston Villa than Robert Snodgrass, in terms of attitude, personality, commitment and popularity. I sometimes forget Villa are only borrowing him. Come on West Ham, let Snoddy stay! pic.twitter.com/GhgEyQX1HX

Milner in his season on loan looked liked he was at home here. Took a couple of years to do a permanent deal but I think that was more Newcastle than Villa.

Adding my 2p worth. . .thought Kyle Walker fitted in well & did a good job for us whilst on loan

I’d barely play seven, let alone 17! I love snoddy but he’s not fantastic (very good cross and a great passer of the ball, and very useful from set pieces) but he’s terribly snow now even in the championship, next season he’s just another year older and playing against faster opp

Couldn't agree more, ticks all the boxes, talented, hardworking, attitude, creative, passion, character around the place. Even if having an off day puts in a great shift. Everything mercenaries if relegation season weren't. Will by gutted if we don't keep him

Love this guy… passion commitment pride… he has been a breath of fresh air. I wasn’t sure at first but he is a great character and an amazing player. He does exactly what it says on the tin.

Much like Milner I would be only too happy for Snoddy to stay, looks at home

Have so enjoyed watching him play in a Villa shirt, what an asset on and off the pitch.

I think his personality has also been a huge help to the place as well. @robsnodgrass7

Another former loanee of note was Benito Carbone.

According to the Fail Hammers want 12mill, in todays money that's nothing, its his wages that could be a stumbling block.

Verdict:
Snoddy’s future is tied up with what happens at the Hammers. The BBC are reporting that David Moyes is poised to leave his post at the London Stadium which could boost our chances of signing the Scottish wide man on a permanent basis.
The current West Ham manager is believed to be keen to keep our no.7 once his loan spell ends with us, but if he does depart, the new man in charge could be more open to selling.
Whatever happens, Snodgrass will be an absolutely critical player tonight as we face Middlesbrough at Villa Park.
