Ahead of today’s kick-off against Reading at Villa Park, Aston Villa announced the capture of Everton winger Yannick Bolasie.

The 29-year-old wideman is well known following his spell and moments of skill at Crystal Palace and his form for them saw Everton shell out a reported £20million for his services back in August 2016. He impressed at Goodison Park to begin with, but slowly fell out of favour with fans given their struggles and then a serious injury kept him out for a long time and the consensus seems to be that he was rushed back into the team too early and plenty quickly turned further against him.

He heads to us looking to get himself going again and it’s a loan deal until the end of the season.

“My main aim here is to get this club promoted. A club of this stature has to be in the Premier League. I looked around both Villa Park and the training ground, and me and my family just said, ‘wow’. It’s Premier League everywhere you look. I’m here to make myself smile again and use all my ability to try and help the team. It’s great to be here.”

If he can get back to his best he’ll undoubtedly be an asset to the squad and give us something different and it appears plenty of fans are happy with the deal but having stockpiled right backs, we now seem to be stockpiling wingers and I’m not so sure we need to.

Bolasie has been given the No 11 shirt and Anwar El Ghazi will sport the No 22 following his arrival.

Let’s hope he can get back to his best quickly as he can certainly get bums off seats.
