Manager Steve Bruce has confirmed that Mile Jedinak could make a return this weekend as we look to get our season underway.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media for his pre game press conference, Bruce revealed that Jedinak returned to training at the beginning of the week and he’s come though all the sessions well.

There’s also good news on Ahmed Elmohamady who is set for a return following his mouth injury that saw him miss the Reading shambles, and we can also welcome back Scott Hogan.

‘With Scott, it`s not as bad as it was previously. He had an injection into his ankle on Wednesday morning. That seems to have settled it down a bit. That`s two or three times now where he`s jarred it. We will see how he is this morning. I haven`t ruled him out totally for Saturday.’

He went on to say about Elmo.

‘Elmo wants to play. That`s typical Elmo – and why I bought him. He had 33 stitches in his lip on Saturday. There`s not many people would put themselves up like Elmo. He wants to be involved.’

And finally Jedinak.

‘Mile has trained all week. He wants to be involved too. They`ll be good additions to us straight away.’

Short of Jonathan Kodjia then, it’s really a strongest squad available deal so are we actually going to get a performance?
