On loan West Ham midfielder Robert Snodgrass has said Steve Bruce knew exactly what he was getting from him when he signed him, but I think fans clearly misjudged his worth..
I have no intention of repeating the previous article and the way fan comments and thoughts changed as Snoddy started proving his worth to us with his performances – creating chances and goals scored.
But with him scoring seven goals this season for us and each of those goals resulting in a win to return 21 points to our Championship tally, I dug a little further and his assist tally for the year surprised me as I didn’t think it was that high.
He has 12 to his name for the campaign of 2017/18 and according to WhoScored.com, although Snodgrass as filled in at a few positions, they tally all his assists from coming from the right midfield slot.
With 21 points gained from his direct goals, the on loan West Ham man can add a further involvement of 22 points from games he’s assisted us to points from.
Unless simple mathematics has again avoided me (regular readers will know it often does!) that just shows the important role he’s come to play for Steve Bruce this year and clearly explains why those doubtful at the beginning have been more than won over.
I can’t show you the assists, but I can the goals.
Every #avfc goal scorer in the league this season:
Adomah – 15
Hourihane – 9
Snodgrass – 7
Hogan – 5
Onomah – 4
Grabban – 4
Chester – 3
Bjarnason – 2
Davis – 2
Green – 1
Gabby – 1
Whelan – 1
JT – 1
Grealish – 1
Samba – 1
Kodjia – 1
Jedinak – 1
Lansbury – 1 pic.twitter.com/JCoO63yZJj

Given his attitude so far, I’d imagine Snoddy will be doing his damndest to make both his goal and assist tally reach at least 30 with a glut of games still to come this year.
