Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce is back hard at work as we prepare for our Play-Off semi-final first leg tie this weekend.

Despite his own off-pitch personal issues, hopefully, Villa continue to be a welcome distraction for the man as he deals with his recent losses and victory this weekend over Tony Pulis’ side should certainly help put a smile back on his face once more.

This morning was, of course, Press Conference time once again as we build up to our trip to the Riverside Stadium, and thankfully on an injury front Bruce does have good news ahead of the game as only two players are likely to be missing.

Neil Taylor is struggling with a hamstring problem that saw his substitution against Derby County. He also missed the Millwall clash so will be assessed late on. Axel Tuanzebe continues to be absent with his ankle problem and he’s of course been out since the Cardiff City tie.

Birkir Bjarnason has shaken off the back problem that reared its head during the Cardiff warm up and having returned to training this week, he comes back into the gaffer’s thought.

Sam Johnstone isn’t a doubt, but he’s awaiting the birth of his first child as I type – so congratulations to him. Let’s hope he has two reasons to celebrate this weekend!

As the day goes on we’ll have more of Bruce’s thoughts about the battle ahead.
