Manager Steve Bruce has said he’s still on the hunt for quality and experience this summer despite Aston Villa clearly needing to move players on.

With a bloated first team squad, Bruce was speaking to the Official Site today about the type of player he was still hoping to add to the group this summer as he wheels and deals.

‘When you manage a huge club like Aston Villa, you need big players who can handle the expectation. You need to be able to handle what a big club demands. John Terry, for example, has played at the top level and I know he will handle it, no problem at all.’

Bruce went on to say it’s about getting the mix right and he certainly still has targets this summer even though we have been slow to move people out.

‘I am really looking to add that experience and quality – Premier League quality if I can – to go with the youngsters and good players that are already here. It`s about getting the mix right. That`s my aim.’

Questioned about his ambitions for the 2017/18 campaign, clearly that’s promotion, promotion, promotion.

‘I have managed to get promotion four times – what I would do to make it five is probably blatant to everyone who comes across me. I am fiercely determined we will get there. Given time, I know I will get there. Time is the one thing that all managers want. I will do my utmost to make sure it`s this season if we can. This is what this club is. We don`t want to be in the Championship. The quicker we are out of it the better.’
