Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce confirmed after the Yeovil Town game that he was targeting further additions with the loan transfer window remaining open until the end of August.

Having taken a 1-0 victory over Yeovil at Huish Park on Tuesday evening, courtesy of a Conor Hourihane effort, it does make it three wins from three at the start of the 2018/19 season and we have to go back to the 1960’s before we’ve started a campaign that brightly.

Brightly on a results front, not necessarily a performance front but you can only beat what’s in front of you.

With Bruce talking about his hopes of strengthening further, a number of fans believe we need at least three new faces in before the real deadline window this season closes, despite the shenanigans to give Sky two mental days of nonsense and guff.

Others, well, they thought we had enough in the group to give things a go – if our tactics were better.

Imagine how the toys will come out the pram when we lose one!

I’d say it’s obvious where we do need to strengthen and provide additional cover given the injuries we have but it’s also obvious that we need to improve our performance levels. Bruce has stabilised us, now we find out whether he can marry that with better football.
