It’s Sunday press transfer talk time (you try saying that after a few beers). I can hardly contain my excitement.. then again…!

Apparently Hull are the latest to be linked with Michael Owen who according to one report will be offered a basic wage and extra’s for appearances/goals. Sounds like a plan to me, still wonder if Villa are interested or not!? The thread continues in our forum and is 34 pages long at the moment: Click Here

The Observer have a rumour that Villa and Everton are to do battle… not sure if this is a full scale battle or just a duel, handbags at dawn maybe?… I digress…. for the signing of Sheffield United right-back Kyle Naughton. Hey, would you believe it, as chance would have it, we have a thread in our forum about the very same player!

Stand back and be prepared to be amazed, Martin Hardy of the News of the World has an exclusive… which is nice. The red top report claims Villa are after 22-year-old Spanish star in the making, Jurado. Apparently Martin O’Neill is preparing a £7million bid for the player who was involved in the U21 Spanish defeat at the hands of the England boys last week!

The News of the World claim that Villa will fail in bringing in Real Madrid’s 22-year-old Dutch winger Royston Drenthe to Villa Park as Fiorentina have reached a preliminary agreement to buy him.

Moving on, The Sunday Sun say that Middlesbrough want to take Craig Gardner AND £7million for central defender David Wheater. That I guess would value him around the £9.5m – £10m bracket as Gardner is a useful player and must be worth at least £2.5 – 3m ?

According to the report Gareth Southgate (and how lucky is he to have a chairman like Steve Gibson eh.. keeping him at the Riverside despite relegation?) has considered trying to take Gardner on loan.

Ah, agent talk warning! The agent of Valencia fullback Miguel says a number of clubs are interested in him. Everton and Villa have apparently been long time admirers. Paulo Barbosa (what a great name!) told setanta.com that Valencia have informed him of the interest and he has to have a meeting with them to discuss the future of the player adding ‘Of course he would want to move to The Premier League. The problem with Valencia is financial. They have some difficulties; that is why we think England can be a good solution.’

Sky Sports have a report claiming that Villa, Spurs and Stoke City are all interested in Ivory Coast striker Aruna Dindane after Lens president Gervais Martel said the 28-year-old will be leaving the club this summer. With quotes in Sport10, he said: ‘Aruna Dindane is a world class player, there are clubs abroad interested in him. I think he will leave and join a foreign club. It is sad because many French clubs can’t afford him.’

Shall we do a wiki wiki again? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aruna_Dindane

The Mirror say that Sol Campbell is considering his future at Portsmouth and repeat the claim that Villa are keeping a watching brief on him. No we are not.. are we? Surely not!? Gulp! St Etienne and Basle are also said to be interested.

Derby County manager wants Villa’s young midfielder Barry Bannan on loan again according to the Derby Evening Telegraph. Bannan was on loan at Pride Park at the end of last season and impressed Clough junior. Clough is quoted in the paper as saying: ‘We have enquired already about a couple of players, with a view to bringing someone in on loan to bolster the squad. There are not too many talented midfielders out there at the moment who are available to buy. So we thought the quality a young player from a Premier League club could bring to the squad would be as good as, if not better, than anything we could bring in on a permanent basis. Barry is certainly one of the names because we know him and he has already been with us, but there are four or five possibilities.’

According to Bill Mills at The Mirror Martin O’Neill has told Spurs boss Appy Arry that he won’t talk swaps for Nigel Hokey-Cokey and will only listen to cash offers for the 25-year-old midfielder, winger, right-back, left-back, bench warmer. The report says MON would want to recoup most of the £8.5million (HOW MUCH?!?!) he paid West Ham for NRC’s services.

Vital Burnley carry a paper link to their midfielder Chris McCann. Apparently the 21-year-old Irishman will be offered an extension to keep him at Turf Moor.
