Cahill Left Waiting

The 21 year old centre half will see his 3 month loan with Sheffield United end after their next clash against Barnsley, but Cahill is hoping that he can extend his stay with the club as opposed to returning and finding himself back in the reserves.

Speaking to the press he said:

‘We are still waiting on contact from Villa.

‘My agent has tried speaking to them and so have United but Martin O’Neill holds all the cards and so we will have to wait and see.

‘Hopefully something can be decided in the coming week.’

To be honest I think it would be best for all parties if his loan was extended. Cahill is good enough for our first team and after his growth the last few seasons would not be happy to be back behind players like Knight and Davies, especially if MON does (please) move Mellberg back into the middle.

It’s far better that Cahill remains happy and gets further experience and doesn’t go stale in the reserves.
