Can’t Refuse To Renew Season Ticket

I can’t refuse to renew my season ticket but….

As a Villa fan of over ten years (I fell in love with football late and support the Villa due to my Brummie dad’s love of the Claret and Blue) who lives a long way from the hallowed Turf of Villa Park I was wondering what I could do as someone concerned about the terrible state of affairs at Villa Park.

Now as I live in Hertfordshire on a low income, I can’t afford to go to many matches and the dream of a season ticket is a long way off along with swimming pools and £1.20 a loaf bread!

What I realised I DO have is my subscription to the woeful ‘Villa World.’ I can’t throw my season ticket on the pitch in disgust but as a protest against the current regime I have denied Doug my £5 a month.

This idea comes not out of the delusion that he will miss my fiver but that as part of a much bigger group I CAN make a difference. It’s the drip that I hope can help wear away the apathy and idiocy at Villa.

I had a phone call just now from Aston Villa offering me a 3 month deal for ‘Villa World’ until September but the guy on the other end of the phone wasn’t ready for the reason I gave for cancelling my account. ‘I’m cancelling as a protest at the way Villa are being run and Doug Ellis’ refusal to commit funds to secure the club’s future.’

This was too much for the Agent on the phone who gave me a meek ‘Um, ok, thanks.’ and hung up!

SO, to sum up my rambling. You may not be spending hundreds of pounds at VP year after year like those noble few thousand who make the journey and effort to be there, but whatever you are spending you can stop and let the club know why.

It takes ALL of us Villa fans working together for the greater good of this glorious club to change the balance of power and bring an end to the despot reign of Doug, now lets all make ONE effort to change things…

God bless the claret and blue and Up the Villa!
