Carlos has admitted disappointment at not making the Spanish World Cup squad, but he knows he’s young enough to still make an impact at International level and that’s what he plans to do.

Speaking on the Official Site Cuellar said his loyalties would be torn between supporting Spain and cheering on his Villa team mates in the England camp. Ideally he’d like a Spain v England final, but I think we all know the chances of that happening.

‘I’ll be supporting Spain, of course. If we don’t have a chance of winning, I’ll be pulling for England because I’ll want our boys to do well.’

As for his own ambitions he was disappointed not to break into the squad, but he has confidence in his own ability and continues to believe that he’ll have the chances to impress with Villa consistently finishing high in the league and having regular trips to Europe.

‘I haven’t been called up by my country yet but I am going to fight every week and hopefully that will be good enough to get in soon. It would be a dream come true to play for my country, I think it is the ultimate accolade for a player.’

Be nice to see Carlos get his call up next season, regardless of individual opinions on his ability to play right back and so on, he is another player who permanently gives 100%.
