Scott Carson has slammed the £10 million price tag that Mini Rafa has placed on his head, and furthermore, with or without him, he believes Villa will go from strength to strength.

Speaking to the Evening Mail the almost ever present said:

‘It’s too much. It’s stupid money really. You pay £10million for a goalkeeper who is 27, 28 and the finished article. To be honest, I’m far from the finished article. I have got another five years of learning. I don’t think Liverpool are stupid. They know what I’m worth. They would have recouped what they paid for me in loan fees over the last couple of years. So, hopefully, they can help me out and if there is a sniff of going somewhere, then hopefully they will respect my wishes and help me that way.”

He also says he wants to get his situation settled as soon as possible so he knows where to set up home admitting the ball is now in Villa’s court.

“I have played football for the last two seasons and I don’t think I will be content with sitting on the bench. I still don’t know what’s around the corner. I have got a couple of weeks now to think about what’s going to happen.”

He says he hasn’t spoken to Liverpool yet but as things stand will be returning as his loan deal is over.

In another interview on the official site, Carson added: ‘It’s been good for me at Villa. We have got into the Intertoto Cup and maybe with a bit of luck we could have got straight into Europe. ‘But finishing sixth is a good achievement. When I came here, getting into Europe was the aim and that’s what we have done. I don’t know what’s going to happen (to me), but hopefully the team do well.’ Adding, ‘Hopefully the manager will keep adding to it and developing it so the team can push on to the next step.’

What do you think? Just can’t see he is worth anywhere near what they are saying, he might be the answer for the future but for now we need an experience goalkeeper surely?
