Hull City’s extremely talented attacker Jarrod Bowen has had another standout campaign up at the KCOM Stadium, and as Aston Villa continue their rebuild under head coach Dean Smith, the 22-year-old is definitely someone we should have on our radar for the summer.
So far this season (prior to the final Championship match on Sunday) Bowen has made 44 starting appearances with one further showing from the substitutes bench and he’s returned 22 goals and four assists. His overall record since his breakthrough now reads 86 starts and 12 substitute showings, with 37 goals returned and the former Hereford player continues to see his stock rise.
In a feature interview for Sky Sports last weekend, whilst there isn’t strong speculation linking Villa with an interest in him, he did take the opportunity to point out that contrary to popular opinion, he wasn’t actually a Villa fan. But his dad is.
“I’ve seen a few things recently saying Leicester should sign Jarrod Bowen but he’s a Villa fan and I want to reply. I’m not a Villa fan, my dad’s a Villa fan, let’s get this straight.”
The cynic may say it’s a bit of a come and get me plea to Leicester given the speculation in their direction, but the more cynical may suggest it’s a nice way to get him on our own radar, as short of that clarification, he certainly doesn’t attempt to further distance himself from us.
