Villa striker Chris Sutton hopes to get a chance against his former club Blackburn Rovers this afternoon and is looking to put one passed them.

The 33-year-old, who has been used as a sub in the last three games said: ‘I feel a bit fitter now and it’s been nice to get on in the games, because when you’re out of the game you do miss it. I can obviously still improve on my fitness, but that will come with training. I thought I’d got my first Villa goal in the second-half at Anfield, but it was a good save to deny me. It was a disappointing result up there, although Liverpool played well. But it’s a minor blip really. We’ve had a good start to the season and hopefully we can kick on again.’

Adding: ‘The main thing is that the team win and hopefully play well. I played against them for Celtic and scored, so if I get a chance, hopefully I can play a part in the team winning. I had five really nice years there. I enjoyed living in the area. It’s a great club with real good support, because it’s only a small town. We won the Premiership when I was there, which is a nice memory and they’re nice people. When I played in the Uefa Cup for Celtic I got a good reception. I always had a good rapport with the fans up there. But I’m a Villa player now and I want to do my best, no matter who I play against.’

So will the former player curse strike again for Blackburn? Lets hope so. Would you start Sutton today? Tell us what you think in the article comments.
