Clean Sheet Relief

Sounds like something a parent has when their child doesn’t wet the bed to be honest, but anyway Davies was delighted with our clean sheet against Hull.

Speaking on the official site Curtis Davies has said all of the defence were pleased to not conceed for the first time in 13 games. I must also point it it is only 13 games, not the 5 years O’Neill commented on in his after match verdict.

‘Three points has been alluding us for so long and obviously that clean sheet as well. We managed to get the clean sheet and always believed we could score.

‘Credit to Hull – they kept going until the last minute and even threw their keeper in the mix and nearly got something. But luckily we were resilient enough to hold out and finally get those three points.

‘In the West Ham game it was a fluke goal and Bolton it fell to the guy’s toe and he volleyed it in. Sometimes you look up at the sky and wonder when it’s going to come.

‘We had to work for it, win all our headers and put your body on the line – it was that type of game and it paid dividends with the three points.’

Former Villan Boaz Myhill was in outstanding form for Hull and is the main reason we couldn’t put the match beyond them, the chance from Gabby in the second half especially sticks with Curtis.

‘That’s why people have good keepers like Boaz. He’s there to do his job and he’s usually kept quite busy.

‘If that goes in then we settle down at 2-0 up with 10 minutes left and it’s technically game over.

‘I think they got a bit of a lift from that, started throwing men forward and with their size and strength they are always going to be a danger from set pieces. But we managed to win quite a few headers and luckily kept them at bay.’
