It’s the first of October, so yes this is what we need – a transfer speculation round up!?!
In no particular order and with absolutely no promise of any of this being accurate, put in print and not just wierdly dreamt about last night whilst I was getting my much needed beauty sleep – we shall begin with forgotten man Joe Cole.
The Birmingham Mail have it said that the player is hoping to secure himself a quick loan out to a Championship level club to get some game time under his belt having not been seen at Villa for what feels like an eternity.
33 year old Cole’s last appearance for us came in the Capital One Cup bum squeek that was the Notts County game, and whilst he’s taking his coaching badges and planning for life after he hangs up his boots, he’s hoping to secure a temporary switch away to get some match minutes and maybe work his way then back into the first team.
He is out of contract come the summer.
We are also being linked to former Chelsea youngster Gokhan Tore and we have apparently scouted him in Besiktas’s three two derby victory over Fenerbahce recently where the 23 year old winger chipped in with two assists.
It’s said we were also there to look at fellow 23 year old Oguzhan Ozyakup, who also operates on the wing, but can play a more attacking central midfield role. Fans may or may not recognise his name as he’s a former Arsenal youngster.
We are again being linked with Wycombe Wanderers goalkeeper Matt Ingram.
He’s becoming a regular feature when it comes to Villa and he’s potentially this summer already surpassed the ‘we’re signing Juninho and Ronaldo’ number of articles.
The 21 year old has been at Adams Park since 2010 and has already made more than 100 appearances for them, keeping 15 clean sheets last year – the last time he came up I linked us to Daniel Bentley of Southend but I’m yet to see that gain traction.
Whether there’s anything in this or not it can only be a matter of time before it gets rehashed again and I’ve already run out of things to say about the player as I’ve never seen him play!
Going back to the Mail, they also have manager Tim Sherwood quoted about our summer dealings.
‘We realised when we went down this route to bring in these development players from a different country in large quantities that you`re rolling the dice somewhat. I`m happy to be in the driving seat. We can only control the future now. We`re not surprised we`re in this position. It comes as a disappointment certainly. I`m not used to losing this many games. But we`re working on getting things right on the training ground and that will continue.’
