Come On Stiliyan Petrov!

Sounds like Stiliyan Petrov is going through a bit of a crisis, he admits he hasn’t hit the form he would have liked to this season but is determined to still make a major impact at Villa Park.

This is where it would be fascinating to talk to the players, to really try to get a feel for what it is like from their point of view, trouble is the e-journalists don’t get access, only access we have is via quotes from the official site. Shame that, maybe in a more limited capacity, e-journalists or web site editors don’t get some sort of access in the form of meetings or news conferences. We might not be accredited press, but we are usually far more passionate and often reach the footballing fans specifically far quicker than some of the papers! (Ramble over).

The Bulgarian international told the official site:

‘I’m still looking for my first Villa Park goal and hopefully it will be a case of once I get one I can go on a bit of a run. I know what I can do, it’s just not the best at the moment. But I keep working and it will come. It will take a while for the January signings. You need time for everybody to click together and learn to play together. But we’re working hard and that will come.’

And on the crunch clash against Everton tonight the midfielder adds: ‘This will be a hard game and that win up at Everton is in the past now. We’re looking forward and we need to take the three points. All the boys are motivated and we’re happy that all the international players have come back without injuries. We’re all prepared for tonight’s game. Everton are a decent side on a good run, but they’re all decent sides in this league and if you don’t concentrate, you get punished. We need to be playing at our best.’

‘We need some home wins. We’ve got some very good games coming up and we need to start picking up points – hopefully starting tonight.’

Amen to that!
