I’m still waiting for Wolverhampton Wanderers to have the much-predicted winter blip! What was the theory? The loan players, once the winter hits, will find out what the Championship is really like and won’t be able to cope?

Hmmm! Politics aside, that’s not my business and it appears to have been looked at by the Football League, you have to say congratulations to them. They were by far and away the best side throughout the season and played some magical football. I am pleased, from our point of view that despite them playing us off the park at Molineux, we managed to return the favour when they visited Villa Park.

The one thing that Wolves had, that I think we’ve lacked somewhat, is consistency and also, when they didn’t play well, they still picked up the results. We have had far too many no-shows, they, by-and-large, have shown up and ground out results when needed.

It is hard to argue that they’ve not been the standout team when they sit at the top of the league with 98 points, have already gained promotion and now are confirmed as champions.

It is what I expected us to do. We have failed in that mission. Would anyone have backed Wolves to do what they have done this season? I don’t think so. Maybe this is why I like the Championship so much, it reminds me of the old Division One when anything was possible. Not the £ky £ootball Premiership where if you aren’t worth mega millions, you are just there to make up the numbers.

So yes, Wolves fans, we are ALL minding the gap!

Congratulations to the Club, Nuno Espírito Santo, the Wolves team and also their fans who let’s be honest, have put up with more downs than us Villa fans have had to over the years. I hope they have enjoyed every minute of this season and can hold their own in the Premiership.

And I’m sure one of my idols, Robert Plant, is smiling from ear to ear as well. Respect!

And talking about respect, this made me laugh. Sid Cowans, a true Aston Villa legend joining in with the celebrations in a rather unique way. Watch until the end. Sid. Legend.
