With the arrivals of both Trezeguet and Douglas Luiz to Aston Villa last week following the lengthy chase for them this summer, it’s now expected that Marvelous Nakamba will finally complete his move this week from Club Brugge.

With reports claiming that we’ve already now finally agreed a deal worth in excess of £11million for the 25-year-old Zimbabwe international, and his apparent strike well covered, but giving some fans hope that he turns out to have the same kind of impact at the club as Christian Benteke did given his own shenanigans all those years ago, Sky claimed on Monday that he was now travelling for his medical, so the expectation is he’s now with us and we’re also thrashing out personal terms.

We will need a work permit for the lad, but we must be confident we can get one, just like our pursuit of Luiz given his issues at Manchester City.

We may well get confirmation of the deal shortly, even if there will still be a delay on the paperwork.

  • Nakamba is one deal I have felt slightly uneasy about. This probably stems from the reported ‘tools down’ reaction he had in order to force this move through. He also missed a fair few games last season, but this was through injury and then playing a waiting game to press for his place back into a successful Club Brugge side. However, Dean Smith has apparently been keen on the player for some time, so who am I to argue.

Today’s news to suggest we have finally worked out a deal with Burnley for Tom Heaton is also a positive move.

With the transfer window quickly winding down, I now wonder if we will see a couple or more departures, to lighten the squad or possibly free up a space for one more newbie- maybe a forward?

Given, the massive squad re-build that has been achieved over a matter of a few weeks, we should all laud the work the Villa recruitment team have achieved. A really good job.
