Reports are saying that David Beckham, questionably the most famous footballer in the world, off field certainly, is on his way out of Spanish giants Real Madrid. Seems his time at the Galactico is doomed after a fall out with Fabio Capello.

The former Manchester United and England star has been linked to a number of clubs including Aston Villa, although some reports suggest he might take the easy option and move to the USA.

Other supposed interested parties are Spurs, West Ham, Arsenal and East Fife. Well, if the papers are going to make links up, then so am I!

Real’s Director of Sport Pedrag Mijatovic said: “Beckham will leave us, we will not renew his contract.’

American owners. A big name despite a slight fall in his stock? A star name in a team not exactly littered with stars? A marker set to show future intentions?

I doubt it, but in football who knows?

Martin O’Neill did say at his Tom Ross, Capital Gold forum, that he would be more interested in taking players at their peak or building, it has to be said Becks has peaked already, he has also said that the only club he would want to play for in England are Manchester United, but as old Greavesie once said, its a funny old game.

  • Beckham will go to Major League Soccer in the States. He wants to establish himself over there. I believe he has already brought a house for around £5,000,000 in L.A., near Tom Cruise. Beckham will never play a competitive domestic game in England again.

  • i do think it would be good for villa to set their marker out and attract a big name, just not convinced becks would be looking to return to England but who knows!

  • All very well reading such stories, but in no way do they interest or relate to AVFC. There is absolutely no way that DB would even remotely consider Villa Park as a step off point to retirement. Not being negative, just 100% realistic.

  • aside from the merchandising, why would you want him? maybe that is enough in the world of money football!? the brand!

  • Let the games begin, but Beckham is a non-starter there is not enough Kudos or Money at Villa to maintain his profile on the football-Celeb stage.

  • Glensider – i agree, Beckham will not move to Villa, especially now East Fife have declared an interest!!!

  • Im sure you have all heard the back track from Madrid now saying that was a translation error and what they said was he hasnt signed a new contract yet. dont want him anyway.
