Reports are saying that David Beckham, questionably the most famous footballer in the world, off field certainly, is on his way out of Spanish giants Real Madrid. Seems his time at the Galactico is doomed after a fall out with Fabio Capello.

The former Manchester United and England star has been linked to a number of clubs including Aston Villa, although some reports suggest he might take the easy option and move to the USA.

Other supposed interested parties are Spurs, West Ham, Arsenal and East Fife. Well, if the papers are going to make links up, then so am I!

Real’s Director of Sport Pedrag Mijatovic said: “Beckham will leave us, we will not renew his contract.’

American owners. A big name despite a slight fall in his stock? A star name in a team not exactly littered with stars? A marker set to show future intentions?

I doubt it, but in football who knows?

Martin O’Neill did say at his Tom Ross, Capital Gold forum, that he would be more interested in taking players at their peak or building, it has to be said Becks has peaked already, he has also said that the only club he would want to play for in England are Manchester United, but as old Greavesie once said, its a funny old game.
