Davies Asks Fans To Not Turn On Barry

Curtis Davies is hoping that Barry does not become a ‘hate’ figure after the Skippers remarks about O’Neill.

Speaking to the Evening Mail, the injured centre half is hoping that business can continue as close to normal as possible, as we prepare for our return to Europe and another league campaign.

“It`s not really distracting because you`ve got to look after your own house.

“Whatever Gareth`s doing or saying, he`s his own man and he`ll sort out his own stuff.

“I`ve just been concentrating on my injury. I`ve been interested to see who`s coming in but I`ve got to look after myself.

“He`s been good for the club for 10 years so if he goes, I`d like to think he goes on better terms than if he was hated.”

Davies’ believes his move from Albion shares some parellels with the Barrypool situation.

“It`s a shame it was sour when I left because I felt I had done well for the club in the time that I was there.

“It`s just a shame that when things get drawn out like with my deal getting left to the last minute, the fans thought ‘he`s jilted us`.

“But it`s football. You can`t please everyone and a lot of times you need to look after your family.

“People talk about loyalty, but my only loyalty is to my family and to look after them.

“If you can move on to a better club and earn yourself a better living and play better football then it`s something you need to do.”

Yes move onto a better club maybe, but hasn’t Barry said this is nothing about money so the better living doesn’t come into it. Playing better football can’t really come into it considering he’ll bench warm in rotation – that doesn’t do much for your form.
