The Villa reserves served up a treat as they beat Derby 4-1 making it three wins in a row.

Curtis Davies not only made his Villa debut but also scored following a classy supply from Patrik Berger who played for 74 minutes following his return from a hamstring injury.

Davies says he is gunning for a first team start:

‘The key for me was to come through the 90 minutes. I felt fine at the end – like I could go for another 90 minutes. I was just excited to be back out there and even the parts where maybe I was a little bit tired, adrenaline got me through. I feel fine now and I’m ready to kick on and get in that first-team. Even if I was fully fit, I haven’t played any first-team games, so I need games like last night to get me back into it. The more games I play like that, hopefully the sooner I’ll get to the first-team.’

Adding, ‘Now I’ll keep working hard in training, keep trying to impress and hopefully I’ll get the nod. I’m ready for action. I’ve come through 90 minutes quite comfortably and if he does want to put me in, I’m ready to start.’

Swedish striker Tobias Mikaelsson scored a hattrick.

Villa reserves: Taylor, Lund, Earls, Osbourne, Lowry, Davies, Y.Bellon, Hogg, Mikaelsson, Stieber, Berger. Subs: Delfouneso (replaced Stieber 74), Bevan, Collins (replaced Mikaelsson 81), Clark, Weimann (replaced Berger 74).
