We reported on the 29th November that Dean Ashton was being linked to a £3million move to Villa in the January transfer window.

At the time it was reported that Birmingham City were also chasing the player. Now the link has re-surfaced, this time with West Ham, Blues and Manchester city said to be competing. The tall striker certainly proved he could score at Premiership level last season and with Norwich looking unlikely to push for a return, the player might be tempted.

It is thought that O’Leary is keen to bolster both his defence and his striking options and could see the Norwich striker as a great target man for Milan Baros and Kevin Phillips to ‘play off’.

Boss David O’Leary is keen to draft in a new striker when the window opens and rumours are growing a move for Ashton could be on the cards as Norwich struggle in the Championship. O’Leary is happy with Milan Baros and Kevin Phillips when both are fit but with Juan Pablo Angel struggling for form, the gaffer is keen to bolster his attacking options.

Reports suggest his signing could spell the end for Juan Pablo Angel who has struggled in the last two seasons to find any sort of goalscoring form.
