Middlesbrough tried and failed to sign Albert Adomah from Aston Villa over the summer and The Northern Echo believe the 30-year-old is on Tony Pulis’ radar for January. Steve Bruce had no desire to let Adomah leave the club back in August and Dean Smith is expected to take a similar stance.

Villa aren’t short on attacking options, with Adomah, Yannick Bolasie, Anwar El Ghazi, Jonathan Kodjia and Andre Green able to play on the wing, but Bolasie & El Ghazi are only on loan, Kodjia isn’t a natural wide-man and Green has struggled to nail down a starting place. Smith needs Adomah.

The 30-year-old has made just two assists in 15 appearances this season and has missed Villa’s last two Championship games due to an ankle injury. Adomah hasn’t been at his best in 2018/19 but he’s still a useful squad player to call upon.

He may struggle to command a starting place but could be a great impact player from the bench. Adomah is capable of turning defence into attack and will whip balls in for Tammy Abraham to pounce on from the right flank.

That being said, Adomah’s advancing age could mean Villa don’t offer him a contract extension to keep him at the club past 2020. He may stay until then.
