Richard Dunne has backed new gaffer Alex McLeish to get the defence back to its best this season.
Speaking to the Official Site ahead of tomorrow’s opening match in the Barclays Asia Trophy, our Republic of Ireland centre half backed the manager to get the defence firing on all cylinders for the coming season.
‘I think as soon as the manager got announced a lot of the lads knew him. He seems to be a man who respects his team, wants them to do well and is all about team spirit.’
Dunne adds.
‘That’s what we had at Villa, a good team spirit. If he can nurture that I’m sure we’ll have a very good season.’
A bit of nature, a bit of nurture…and no paint balling parties eh!
Dunne continues to say that Alex being a former centre half himself will certainly help matters, not least because he should be able to spot what they are doing wrong far more quickly and have an instant idea on how to rectify it.
You’d certainly hope that was the case.
