It’s been reported that Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce is incredibly keen on bringing in Chelsea striker Tammy Abrahams on a season-long loan spell this summer.

The England Under 21 international has already shown what he’s capable of in the Championship following his loan with Bristol City back in the 2016/17 campaign where he scored 26 goals in 48 appearances across all competitions.

Last season he made the step up to the Premier League with Swansea City and although they ended up suffering relegation at the end of the year, he did score eight times for them in 21 starting appearances and 18 substitute showings – which isn’t a bad return given their struggles.

With four forwards out injured as we build up to next Monday’s Championship opener against Hull City, loans are a quick fix for upfront options and that is obviously the main driver behind us being linked with the 20-year-old. There are some fans who believe he could be key to us gaining promotion in what will be a tough year despite our new ownership, others don’t believe he’ll replicate his wonder form from the other year.

The Birmingham Mail claim that we have lodged an interest and are now waiting to hear back, but it’s claimed Chelsea would prefer another him to spend another year in the top-flight but the curious link is Galatasaray given they can offer Champions League football as an alternative.

  • What I manager ignores Mcgate on 40,000a week wages , with three out injured,
SBruce. if Edens andSawiris have witnessed this, they should be saying .You don’t
go adding to the wage bill. With this striker fit and ready. Bite the bullet ,kick arse and
get him ready to play vHull Monday .only pride is stopping this wake up F F S

    • Fit & ready!!! Nonsense, McCormack shouldnt get near the 1st team ever again. He’s got a terrible attitude – was given a 2nd chance last summer and made absolutely no effort to get properly fit or fight his way into the team. Your dislike for Bruce is clouding your judgement. As for Abraham, good young striker who should add goals if we got him. Able to hold the ball up as well which would suit the way we play.

  • The welfare of AVFC of overrides my criticism of SB , the club owners, and Bruce
must stop these type of players exploiting the club. By using McGate, Bruce will finally
come out on top of the situation. Mcgate, will either prove a professional point or reveal
to any potential buyer he’s availability. As for Abraham, that’s his decision.

  • It is a shame, I kept thinking Ross must be used, it’s just too much money not to, etc. But………. Steve might be a lot of things, but an idiot he is not. If he thought he could get the player doing what he wants, he’s use him. Must be something else going on.
