It’s been reported that Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce is incredibly keen on bringing in Chelsea striker Tammy Abrahams on a season-long loan spell this summer.
The England Under 21 international has already shown what he’s capable of in the Championship following his loan with Bristol City back in the 2016/17 campaign where he scored 26 goals in 48 appearances across all competitions.
Last season he made the step up to the Premier League with Swansea City and although they ended up suffering relegation at the end of the year, he did score eight times for them in 21 starting appearances and 18 substitute showings – which isn’t a bad return given their struggles.
With four forwards out injured as we build up to next Monday’s Championship opener against Hull City, loans are a quick fix for upfront options and that is obviously the main driver behind us being linked with the 20-year-old. There are some fans who believe he could be key to us gaining promotion in what will be a tough year despite our new ownership, others don’t believe he’ll replicate his wonder form from the other year.
The Birmingham Mail claim that we have lodged an interest and are now waiting to hear back, but it’s claimed Chelsea would prefer another him to spend another year in the top-flight but the curious link is Galatasaray given they can offer Champions League football as an alternative.
Mate take him any day.
