Delboy’s New Deal

Nathan Delfouneso has today signed a new contract that will keep him at B6 until 2012.

The two year extension delighted Martin O’Neill who waxed lyrical on the official site about the youngster:

‘I couldn’t be more pleased. He is a great talent and has real natural ability. He is a great, great talent and I am absolutely delighted to have him here.’

Describing Delboy as a striker who ‘has it all,’ Monny is wary of putting him under too much pressure but did add that he was pushing very hard for a first team place and will get a proper chance soon.

‘He has been around the first team. I hope when he gets his opportunity – in the not too distant future – he can grab it. He really wants it and I think he has that determination about him. The football club will see the benefits in the next few years.’

It’s going to be interesting to see how well he makes the step up. He has been around the first team for a long time now and although he’s never really stolen the show in the Cup games where he has played, he has shown flashes of potential and not let himself down.

I think many of us will be happy to see him start in the coming weeks given the ‘reservations’ over Carew and Heskey.
