Nathan Delfouneso has said he was overjoyed to get on the scoresheet in last nights clash against Blackpool, but he still doesn’t understand why he had a goal ruled out.

Speaking on the Official Site Delboy explained he was pleased he was able to grab his goal given the disappointment he felt following the referee’s ludicrous decision to cancel out his true opener and his failure to find the net in our last match.

‘It was a proud moment for me getting another goal in the Premier League, but the main thing is that we got the 3 points.

‘Personally I felt disappointed that I didn’t get a goal at Fulham, especially with the chances I had, I felt I should’ve done better.’

He certainly had the chances to bury Fulham and whilst he kept getting into the right positions he just didn’t quite look sharp enough. He looked a lot better last night, but it’s clear if he keeps getting into the right positions the goals will come and last night should’ve done his confidence the world of good – although the substitution was a little strange.

‘I was determined to get a goal against Blackpool, I thought it might not be my day again with the goal that got disallowed. I thought it was perfectly good too. The referee said I pushed him but I didn’t have a clue where that came from. Thankfully I got the goal not long after, it would’ve been nice to get two, but we got the win in the end and that’s the main thing.’

First of many for Delboy you would hope. He hasn’t had the greatest start to the season so far but it looks like it’s coming good for him now. He just has to ensure he keeps working hard and getting into the right positions and if he keeps putting them away then he’ll give Houllier a nice headache.
