Nathan Delfouneso played 90 minutes for the England U19 side last night and believes the experience will serve him well.

The young striker put in a ‘lively’ performance in the 0-0 friendly clash with the Czech Republic last night, as anyone who turned up at Bescot last night will know – so did anyone?

Speaking on the official site, Delboy said:

‘It’s important to play against players at this level and it’s good to go and test yourself on a personal level.

‘These games help your development as a player. Obviously international football is a bit different to club football.

‘You are playing against different cultures and different types of footballers, so it’s all part of your education.’

And the boy by all accounts is doing well, he’s come on leaps and bounds in the first team this year for us and whilst he can expect a few more sub appearances, he isn’t ready yet for a regular role if the truth be told. But if he keeps developing the way he has been, he could very well be an important part of the squad for next season.
