No great surprise with that little nifty finish and his overall importance to our performance is it, but Fabian Delph has been named by Garth Crooks in his BBC Team of the Week.

The ‘blurb’ (technical term you know) points out that the Delphinator hadn’t scored in any of his 50 appearances for Villa prior to this season since joining us, but he has three so far this campaign in 26 appearances.

The piece also begins by saying.

‘Finally Aston Villa got what they deserved against Chelsea…’

Maybe somebody should let the ‘Special One’ know before he makes himself look even more special in the press with his ramblings.

‘Fabian Delph was at the centre of everything they did well with his energy and work rate. I saw Paul Lambert’s team play Chelsea off the park at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season and got nothing for all their hard work.

‘They were even better at Villa Park and Delph was the star of the show. I know Guy Mowbray asked the midfielder in his post-match interview whether he meant his Cruyff flick for his goal. The look of disbelief on Delph’s face was a picture – he definitely intended it.’

Funny referencing that earlier game this season, the blue part of Stamford Bridge certainly weren’t bemoaning a certain refereeing performance that day where they.

Well done Delphy!
