Fabian Delph has said that with the pitch time players have got this pre season, he’s expecting us to start the campaign fit and sharp.
Speaking to the Official Site after Delph found the net in our game against Walsall last night, the midfielder said:
‘Training is training so it’s not as realistic as a game situation. We’ve played a lot of games and we’ve found it beneficial. We’ve got a lot of game time under our belts so going into the start of the season we should be sharp and know what to do and what it’s all about.’
Delph admits that our earlier loss to Luton did shock a number of the players, but he thinks in hindsight the way that we’ve reacted in games against Crewe and Walsall show that the loss served its purpose this pre season and was a good reminder that we need to take our chances when they come along and not take games for granted.
