Although Aston Villa fans have to wait a few more days before we begin our 2021/22 Premier League campaign, last weekend the EFL had their big kick off and on Tuesday evening the first round of this years’ EFL Cup got under way – and Villans had reason to show an interest in the Ipswich Town v Newport County clash at Portman Road.
With plenty of youngsters heading out to earn their spurs this year and taste proper football, in many cases for the first time in their career, a certain Louie Barry is looking to impress Ipswich fans, and a certain new arrival, Finn Azaz, is out to impress Newport fans.
Both faced off against each other last night as they started the game and both in their own way were very impressive, although Azaz stole the lime light as he grabbed the assist to Newport’s winner in the first half and understandably, both came in for good praise after the game for their performances.

Not a bad way to debut for either of them, let’s hope it’s a sign of things to come. Social media certainly lit up for Barry.
A few days left before we see whether head coach Dean Smith can make it three seasons on the trot where we show significant improvement, so that means only one thing – Fantasy Football!

I think Louie Barry might well be the next Pelè

Louie Barry was great, Humphreys was quiet and assured, everything else was meh. Newport did their job on us, fair play. #itfc

He’s different gravy pal, literally making something happen every time he’s on the ball

I thought Louie Barry was excellent. Real hard worker and had them chasing him at all times. Think Dobs played really well, and made mistakes which will sort themselves out with experience, star player in him. #ITFC

From what I saw he had quite a few chances. Give him the seasons you’ll have a decent player back
