Steve Cotterill is unlikely to be able to re-sign the famous Roy Keane replacement Eric Djemba-Djemba, who had joined the Clarets on loan in January. Djemba, dubbed “Manchester United misfit” by skysports.com had impressed for Burnley and had admitted he wouldn`t mind going back to Turf Moor.

Cotterill told the Burnley Express: “It probably suited us, Eric and Aston Villa to do a subsidiary wage packet last season, the same as with a few loan deals we have done, and we put them in the shop window.”

He then went on to add: “We would have wanted to have him in with the rest of the lads for pre-season if we were going to have him on a longer-term loan, but I don’t see that one happening at the moment.”

Despite being back at Villa Park (well one would assume he`s probably on holiday), Eric is not likely to appear in an Aston Villa shirt again, with a further payment to Manchester United being due soon. It should also be noted that Benfica have been linked with a move for the Cameroon midfielder, for an astounding £700,000. Boy, we’ve really seen them coming!
