Forgotten Villa midfielder, Eric Djemba-Djemba, currently on loan at Burnley, hopes being back in first team football will improve his chances of returning to Villa Park.

Jumper-Jumper, who is on loan at Turf Moor until the end of the season said in the Daily Mail:

‘I’m happy because I’m playing again, I’m working again. I’ve lost my place in my national team and I’m not playing at the top level. It has been embarrassing. But I’m very happy to be here.’

‘David O’Leary was never straight with me and, of all of them, he is the one who has hurt me. A lot of the players were very happy when he left. It is different with Martin O’Neill. He is straight, and so is Steve Cotterill here at Burnley.’

‘Honesty is all you can ask for.’

  • Is is he really that bad? His attitude in training must have been poor, as he was never given a run in the team, he’s behind Davis and Osborne now, so I can’t see a future for him. Interestingly would he be any worse than Maccan?

  • DJx2 how did we end up with him anyway? Oh yea I remember now DOL panic buy. Ferguson must have taken comfort from this sale, when he retires and look back on his long career in management he will reflect on the European Cup, League titles and many many Cup Victories. But the thing that will make him smile the most will be the sale of Djemba-Djemba to Villa…. I can see the smile now.

  • Did DOL never tell him he wanted Bakke in January but HDE wouldn’t sanction it until he thought he had made a deadline day double signing !

  • Touching. Because, no, really, it’s all about his happiness.
I’m not sure what they’re smoking down there in Burnley, but…

  • Turf Moor was very much a case of last chance saloon for our Eric. I hope he does well there. I’m pleased he’s happy, playing again, and enjoying his football. He had two great opportunities at Old Trafford and Villa Park, yet managed to screw them both up.
