Que Sera And Pitch Invasions – This Is Aston Villa, You’ve Got To Be Joking

It was pointed out in > the forum debate > that the last time Aston Villa fans invaded the pitch, by a strange twist of fate also against the obsessed Tony Pulis, the club got fined £200 000

The match was the quarter-final win over West Bromwich Albion on 7 March 2015.

I didn’t understand the pitch invasion then either, we’d not won anything at that stage and ultimately didn’t win anything. As you’ll remember, we played fantastically in the semi-final at Wembley wiping the floor with Liverpool only to go on to not even show up in the final v Arsenal!

At the time the FA statement said:

“Aston Villa have been fined £200,000 after admitting spectator misconduct in relation to their FA Cup sixth round tie against West Bromwich Albion on 7 March 2015. The club was charged for failing to ensure that no spectators or unauthorised persons were permitted to encroach onto the pitch area whilst attending the game at Villa Park.”

And worryingly – because this suggests they will come down on us even heavier if fans do the same again:

“Following the Independent Regulatory Commission hearing, Aston Villa were also severely warned as to the club’s future conduct.”

Some think it a bit of fun. I don’t think the club will view it as that.
