With Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens coming in as new majority owners in what has to be a prelude to a full takeover from Dr Tony Xia further down the line, Villa fans have certainly had plenty to think about in recent days.

A failure to gain promotion and a lack of planning saw the bottom fall out at the club with a winding-up order, a lack of cash, and the concern that we would have to sell/hock the fake jewellery let alone the real stuff to stay afloat was at the forefront of everyone’s minds.

Then it all changed.

So topics of conversation changed to who we could keep, what did Financial Fair Play really mean, what about Steve Bruce etc.

God asked his own question, and as he’s fully entitled to do, he answered it before we knew the question.

Anyone disagree?

I think everyone got the cut of his jib and plenty were fully on board but a couple of fans wondered if it was about time the club gave fans something back and I also get their point. I do tend to think though that process has started given the following interview.

We’ve heard the right things being said before and we know where that’s ended up – but it’s the right start surely. Now it’s over to them to build on that – fans will do what fans do.
