Doug Ellis Stays Humble!

Doug Ellis in www.birminghammail.net saying that Villa fans should show some patience and although the season has been disappointing so far, McLeish can do well here.

I`m sorry, after that thrashing v Chelsea?

Oh, hang on… we won it wasn`t a dream was it?!

“He is a good man, irrespective of where he came from, and I support him. He`ll get it right but in my view the supporters have got to be a little bit more patient and get behind the team.”

He also mentions this moment:

A classic I`m sure you`ll agree!

“When we scored the second up he gets from the front row and tries to walk away down the aisle. I stopped him and grabbed his hand and said, ‘Come on Roman, it`s only a game`.”

He also talks in this interview about other prospective purchasers who he wouldn`t sell to because they were doing it by loans. And mentions that Randy Lerner is a good man. www.birminghammail.net

“The only reason I sold Aston Villa was my health. I always said I`d never sell and that they`d have to take me out feet first from Villa Park. I`ve had prostate cancer, which was a malignant tumour and I was in hospital for 20 days, a few years back. Six months later I had cancer of the bowels, but that was non-malignant. Then I had a triple heart bypass, which really affected me. But I`ll stagger on and you can be sure I`ll be around this time next year to see my Villa.”
